Making the Most of March 2013

Making the Most of March
at the Hudson-Chatham Winery...
where spring is right around the corner!

Dear Carlo,

It's March! Lots of fun stuff is happening at the winery this month as the days get longer and - yes, we hope! - warmer!! We're open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm. Start looking for people out in the vineyard as we begin to prune the vines and set the stage for Vintage 2013.

PRIVATE WINE DINNER

Make your reservations now to join us at our first private wine dinner of 2013. Our limited-seating dinners are feasts of food and wine and friendship as we pair dishes created by amazing chefs with our award-winning wines. We are delighted to be working with Barbara of Blima's Catering in Hudson on an 8-course internationally themed dinner that is sure to astound! The cost is $75/person ($60/person for Hudson-Chatham Case Club Members), and includes food, wine, tax and tip. Email to make a reservation or to learn more atInfo@hudson-chathamwinery.com.

GOURMET GARDENING SERIES
Wednesday, March 13, 6 to 8 pm
The Master Gardeners at Cornell Cooperative extension will be at the winery to explain how to grow and cook with some of the heirloom vegtables that can thrive in our are and are used by great chefs around the world. Touchstone Gold Beets will be the stars at tonight's session. You'll go home with seeds and recipes. Enjoy a wine tasting, as well! Register through Cornell by calling 518-828-3346 or email blh42@cornell.edu.

IT'S BAAAACK!!
Celebrate the release of the 2011 Chelois on Saturday, March 23, 12 to 5 pm.
We're having a party to celebrate the release of the 2011 Chelois, which has been in the bottle for the past 6 months awaiting this special day. The Chelois is from Casscles Vineyard in Athens, NY. It is a delighful, light-bodied but full-flavored red that's been touted by wine writers, praised by critics, won over fans at the Culinary Institute of America (where it's on the menu of the St. Andrews Cafe), and most of all been thoroughly enjoyed by many. One of its fans is Lisa from Block Factory Tamales in Germantown, NY, who will be at the winery all day serving her hot tamales and other specialty dishes. Come raise a toast with us on this special day at the winery.
As our thoughts turn to spring and newness, we leave you with this from the world-renowned wine writer Andre Simon:
"Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized."

Cheers, and Happy March!
