Steven Kolpan Raves About
Hudson-Chatham Chelois!

James Beard award winning wine expert Steven Kolpan recently wrote an article in the June-August 2012 issue of Valley Table magazine entitled "Warm Wheather Reds: Chill Out," extolling the virtues of Pinot Noir from around the world.

In the article Kolpan recommended wines form the Hudson Valley:

"For a good local/aternative choice, look for Hudson Valley Pinot Noir produced by Millbrook, Robibero, Oak Summitt, Bashakill; Chelois from Hudson-Chatham, Genoa produced by Cereghino-Smith."

Great news for those comeing to visit Hudson-Chatham Winery, and those buying Hudson Valley wine this summer and all year round!

SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!
CAPITAL REGION LIVING MAGAZINE BEST OF 2012
HUDSON-CHATHAM WINERY
Best Local Wine/Winery

Hudson-Chatham Winery, 1900 Route 66, Ghent
Carlo and Dominique DeVito, publishing professionals, realized a dream to create this first-of-its kind winery in Columbia County. Their award-winning wines are crafted in small, handmade batches. Grapes for a Seyval Blanc, for example, were grown in the Hudson Valley, some from Hudson-Chatham’s vines. Then there are the cheeses and desserts that accompany the reds and whites. The restored 1780 farmhouse and grounds are an attractive setting for the vineyard tours of the winery, located between Hudson and Chatham. Passion is a key element in its best-of selection. The wines also can be found in area restaurants and liquor stores.

Hudson-Chatham Seyval Blanc
Hudson Valley Wine Goddess, Debbie Gioquindo

Another Seyval Blanc to tell you about before the 2011 vintage comes out.

The 2010 Hudson-Chatham Block 1, North Creek Vineyards was Estate Grown and Bottled had a strong nose of citrus.

A palate of soft banana with citrus and lime flavors with a tart finish that jumps out at you and lingers. As the wine warms up a bit the lime flavors become more prominent.

If you notice the color of the wine is a bit more yellowish than I'm use to with this type of varietal. Usually Seyval is more clear with hints of a yellow and a greenish ting. But in any event, the color did not effect the wine. It was what I expected.
